Spelling Bee ("we", "our", or "the game") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

We collect minimal data to operate the game:

Game progress — your found words, scores, and completion status are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
Anonymous usage data — we may collect aggregated, anonymized analytics such as page views and session duration via third-party services (e.g. Cloudflare). This data cannot identify you personally.
Server logs — our server automatically records standard web access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). These are retained for up to 30 days for security and performance purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

To serve puzzle content and run the game
To monitor server health and diagnose technical issues
To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the game

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating Spelling Bee.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use tracking cookies. Your game data (progress, theme preference, sound settings) is stored in browser localStorage — it stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Third-party services integrated into the game (such as Cloudflare for DNS and DDoS protection, and Google Fonts for typography) may set their own cookies as part of their standard operation. Please refer to their respective privacy policies.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

Infrastructure providers necessary to operate the game (e.g. Cloudflare, DigitalOcean)
When required by law or to protect the security of the service

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your game progress lives only in your browser. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data for spellingbee.game.

Server access logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

Spelling Bee is a general-audience word game suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the game after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
